"Antigen 7.0 delivers as promised. It installed easily, and began catching viruses immediately," said Jeff Berry, Director Network Services for Nextjet Technologies. "Sybari has done an excellent job in enhancing the content filtering capabilities in this new version of Antigen. Spam is such a growing problem these days for all e-mail users, that effective content and file filtering capabilities are as important to our company as virus protection. Thank you Sybari for innovating and offering the functionality we need to keep our networks virus-free and at peak performance."
ANTIGEN 7.0 FOR EXCHANGE HIGHLIGHTS:
Greater Value and Control
· New Disclaimer Capability for Outbound Messages: Antigen 7.0 for Microsoft Exchange includes new outbound disclaimers at the SMTP scan job. This feature will enable Administrators to append customized disclaimer text to every outbound message, providing administrators a tool to communicate, clarify and educate external message recipients about their email policies.
· New E-mail Virus Protection for Windows 2000 SMTP Gateways: Antigen 7.0 now provides the ability to initialize and run Antigen on Windows 2000 SMTP front-end servers in addition to running on Exchange. In past releases, Antigen required Exchange 2000 to be installed. Organizations may employ this capability to separate SMTP message routing from their Exchange 2000 servers and provide antivirus and content filtering using the Antigen SMTP Scan Job prior to scanning on the Exchange mailbox stores.
"Antigen has been working flawlessly since we installed it," said Brian Ricks, Senior Network Engineer for BriComp Computer. "Nothing protects Exchange like Antigen - it is simply awesome. I have complete confidence that my Exchange server is safe and protected with Antigen."
Improved File Filtering
· File Size Filters: Antigen 7.0 allows Administrators to detect and block, purge, or quarantine messages of a specific size, or larger or smaller than a specific size. This is useful for Administrators to proactively purge malicious messages with attachments of a known size including the ability to block messages with 0 byte attachments. It also provides a mechanism to manage message traffic and its impact by establishing a policy for maximum message attachment file size.
"Virus writers are continually trying to develop new viruses that can get to, and spread through, a corporate network," said Robert Lonadier, President, RCL & Associates. "File filtering is a valuable way for a company to rid themselves of files that contain potential viruses. With advanced file filtering options, such as those found in Sybari’s Antigen 7.0, companies have an additional layer of defense for warding off a virus attack by allowing Administrators to proactively block messages of a specific size."
Reduced Administration Costs
· Better Access to and Control of Quarantine and Virus Incident Databases: As requested by customers, Antigen 7.0 has added significant improvements in the Quarantine and Incidents databases. Administrators have found that their reliance on these databases has increased as they employ more powerful features for content and file-filtering within Antigen. They will now be able to access pertinent information more readily with new functions for sorting and searching providing customized views. Additionally, Quarantine Management has been enhanced allowing Administrators to filter, automatically purge based on date, or forward a quarantined file to particular mailboxes.
· New Central Management with the Antigen Quarantine Manager: A variety of enhancements and improvements have also been made to the Antigen Central Manager (ACM). The ACM provides organizations with a central console to deploy Antigen, configure and distribute settings, and manage Antigen on numerous Exchange servers deployed across the enterprise. In Antigen 7.0, Sybari has extended central management with the new Antigen Quarantine Manager (AQM). This new console allows Administrators the ability to manage, search, and retrieve entries in remote Quarantine and Virus report databases from a central location.
· Worm Purge Precedence: Antigen 7.0 includes a change affecting the precedence of worm virus scanning and purging operations. Worm Purge(TM) is an innovative feature first introduced in Sybari’s Antigen 6.1, which purges messages and attachments infected with worm viruses, resulting in reduced spam and related help desk calls. Administrators will be able to fully realize the benefits of Worm Purge as Antigen now eliminates worm viruses before file and content-filtering operations.
Higher-Level of Security
· New Read-only Client Access Rights: In response to customer requests, Sybari is introducing the capability to set different security levels for the Antigen client or user interface. In this release, security rights can be established that provide read-only access to the Antigen client. This is particularly useful in organizations that have remote IT and support personnel that may need read-only access to Antigen to determine local antivirus and content-filtering configurations, and to view local Quarantine and Incident databases. Full access can be made available to fewer employees to ensure a more secure and consistent operation across the organization.
"As corporations continue to struggle with internal hack attacks and security issues, the ability to easily set security rights is crucial. Being able to set different security levels for the client or user interface will allow companies to ensure a more secure and consistent operation across the organization," stated Robert Deane, Analyst, eSecurity at Datamonitor. "The ability to establish read only rights is particularly useful in organizations that have remote IT and support personnel who only need read only access to determine local antivirus and content-filtering configurations."
"Sybari’s Antigen continues to provide advanced server-level e-mail security and protection to administrators of Microsoft Exchange" said Kevin McCuistion, group product manager for Exchange at Microsoft Corp. "This new version of Antigen demonstrates Sybari’s commitment to Microsoft technology and offers our mutual customers a comprehensive solution that preserves the integrity of Exchange."
